Bio
Akira Nakamura is a drummer and composer from Okinawa, Japan whose work explores the relationship between inner perception and the external world through sound.
Using an extended drum setup with triggers and live effects, he creates immersive sonic environments where acoustic drums, electronics and silence interact. His performances develop through rhythm, texture and space, combining improvisation with minimal structures to form slowly evolving soundscapes.
Rooted in a philosophical approach to listening and presence, Nakamura’s work often seeks a sense of oneness between the internal universe of the self and the wider world.
He has performed internationally, including as an Artist in Residence at Copenhagen Jazz Festival. Recent appearances include Tua-Tiu-Tiann International Festival of Arts (Taipei), World Music Festival @ Taiwan, and Music Lane Festival Okinawa.
